2018 OLA/WALPA Joint Conference

Pacific Northwest Lakes in a Changing World
Portland, Oregon, September 26-28, 2018

It's Almost Conference Time! 

Join us for workshops, presentations, a field trip, and meeting with friends and colleagues at the 2018 Joint Oregon Lakes Association/Washington State Lakes Protection Association Conference at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Portland, Oregon.  Conference proceedings (Draft Agenda) will kick off at a series of Wednesday afternoon workshops on Aquatic Plants, Cyanobacteria Identification (registration full), and Water Resources Modeling. Thursday will start with a plenary presentation by Dr. Daniel Schindler from the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of Washington "Climate change and water quality in western US lakes: how can we plan for an uncertain future?" followed by presentations through mid-day Friday on topics including:

harmful algal blooms; mountain, dryland, and urban lakes; aquatic plants; toxics such as lead and mercury; impacts of climate change on lakes; invasive species; modeling, and community involvement.

Proceedings will also include a discussion of harmful algal bloom science and management led by a group of experts from Oregon and Washington. Conference activities will conclude with an optional boat tour of Ross Island Lagoon.

Conference registration rates range from $25 to $175 depending on membership status, not ncluding optional workshops or field trip.
