Did you see the 12 June 2020 Oregonian article about Borax Lake chub being delisted as an endangered species? I had a past interest in Borax Lake so I clipped the article, consulted my Lake Wise index, and saw the lake had been featured in the Nov 1995 and Feb 1996 issues. The 1995 article describes the lake, the timeline of the chub listing, the Nature Conservancy purchase of adjacent lands, and their objection to plans to develop geothermal generation nearby. The 1996 article reports Anadarko Petroleum Corporation testing results that indicate their planned development is outside of the hot springs feeding the lake. An EIS was authorized to resolve the question. The Oregonian article credits increased conservation measures around the lake for the chub recovery, and promises that new geothermal plans for the area will be scrutinized. It is really handy to have a Lake Wise index.
That's good news, Roger! Thanks for sharing. We should get your indexing restarted.
